I was born in Lakenheath England into a military family. So I guess you can say im a "military brat",. I am blessed with wonderful parents, Lorenzo and Olivia Gatica, who I love dearly. I am the middle child, and have four siblings, Lorenzo Jr, Angelica Maria, Roman Gabriel, and Monica Diane. I married to a wonderful man, Efren Garza, who also played the accordian and sang in his dads band, Conjunto Central. So that explains why we clicked and got married, we both favor conjunto music. We have three sons, Efren Jr, Lawrence Sebastian, and Noah Patrick. I value all my family, and put them first before anything in life.
In 1992 at the age of 12, my father retired from the United States Air Force and we then moved to San Antonio, Texas , where we called home. We moved on the westside of town with my elderly grandparents at 323 Queretaro street. This is when my ear for conjunto music came about. My Papo Mart and welita Angelita every morning would thune the radio into KEDA, and wuld leave it on all day. I started to enjoy hearing the conjunto music, that I even caught myself dancing and singing along. On specials occasions my welita would say call into KEDA and say some dedications. So I would pick up the phone and dial 226-1540, that I had memorized. Although, before I hung up I would ask the DJ can I throw a grito, and I sure would. At the age of 18, I started to accompany my parents at varies dances where conjunto bands were playing at. I enjoyed dancing to conjunto music and occasionally throwing gritos, oww.
On March 28, 2012 I was given the opportunity to work for KEDA in sales as one of the account executives. I got trained by Mr. Q, who has been with KEDA in Sales for many years. I remember him telling me how conpetitive and how at times I may feel like I cannot do it, but he always told me not to give up. It has been an interesting road, but the type of woman I am, I can do it all.I enjoy being part of this wonderful KEDA family. To me I enjoy meeting all the loyal listeners that KEDA radio has had growing over many years and continue to have. As I continue to meet all you listeners and musicans, I would like to thank you all for making KEDA what it has become. Thanks to our boss, Mr.Jerry Benavides for keeping KEDA going to a high level for all the Conjunto Bands, listeners and staff. I look foward to meeting all you listenrs out there, feel free to come up to me and say hello. I appreciate all musicians who continue to keeep conjunto music alive.
